GEORGE TOWN: Some 100 pupils from the House of Hope in Air Itam, were provided with school uniforms by the management of the Bukit Jambul Complex in Bayan Baru recently.

The children who were from poor families received school uniforms, shoes, bags and other items as preparation for the new school term.

The initiative was part of Kompleks Bukit Jambul’s (KBJ) corporate social responsibility programme to assist underprivileged children.

The children were also given breakfast by Eden Catering Penang, after which they were treated to activities which included a story telling session, music and dance, and a colouring contest.

The ChiChi and ChaCha cartoon characters had the children laughing throughout.

Kompleks Bukit Jambul joint-management body vice-chairman Jugal Kishor Shivlal said it is was important to give back to society and he hoped that it would help the children to do well in school.

“Partnering with our sponsors gives us an opportunity to put smiles on the faces of these children. We are dedicated to having a positive presence in the community,” he said.

Also present were deputy Chief Minister Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon, Bayan Baru member of parliament Sim Tze Tzin and state education department head of human development sector Izmi Ismail.
