KUALA LUMPUR: In steering Malaysians back to healthier lifestyles, eSolved MSC Sdn Bhd has introduced a smartphone application, Fitness In My Pocket.
The app seeks to inspire ordinary adults who aren’t able to regularly attend gyms to get healthy through celebrity trainers’ regular fitness training.
Youth and Sports minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the obesity rate in the country has become a growing source of concern with nearly 20 percent of Malaysians classified as obese and almost half of the country classified as overweight, which could lead to serious health problems.
“It is clear that we need to watch our diets more and exercise is an essential way to work off excess weight.
“However, it is difficult to make time to exercise as the fact that most Malaysian workers, especially in the city, are tied to their desks or cars for the entire day,” he said at the launch here yesterday.
The app features workout plans with experienced trainers Josiah Ng (Commonwealth Games Gold Medalist and 3-time Olympian), Ernie Tang (renowned personal trainer based in Melbourne, Australia) and Laurel Stelzer (certified fitness trainer based in Boulder, Colorado, United States of America) that were designed to inspire and motivate users.
Users can choose to gain muscle or lose weight and they will be set up with training plans featuring videos with the trainers themselves demonstrating and explaining each workout.
“The key with working out is to keep people motivated and build gradually until they can see the obvious benefits of exercising for themselves.
“With Fitness In My Pocket’s training programs, someone who starting on the road to fitness can start at a gentler pace and work their way towards more intensive workouts, at whatever time is convenient for them to do so,” Khairy added.
The app is available on the Apple Store and Google Play for free download and to learn more, users can visit the website http://www.fitnessinmypocket.com.
