JOHOR BARU: The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar and Permaisuri Johor, Raja Zarith Sofiah Sultan Idris Shah attended the wedding reception of the eldest son of state Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Datuk Abd Latif Bandi at the Persada Johor International Convention Centre here tonight.

Latif and his wife Datin Nor Karmila Md Nor welcomed the royal entourage, who also included Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail, his consort Che' Puan Khaleeda Bustamam, Tunku Temenggong Johor Tunku Idris and Tunku Putera Johor Tunku Abu Bakar.

The reception which began at 8pm also saw the attendance of Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, his wife Datin Seri Rosni Omar, state secretary Datuk Ismail Karim, state assembly speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Aziz, state executive council members, Johor assemblymen, parliamentarians and senior state government officials.

About 2,000 guests joined the reception for newlyweds Ahmad Fauzan Hatim Abd Latif, 25, and Nur Shaliza Mohamad Salleh, also 25.

Fauzan, who is the eldest of five siblings and Nur Shaliza were resplendent in maroon traditional Malay wedding attire.

Sultan Ibrahim and Raja Zarith later led the other dignitaries to perform the 'merenjis' ceremony on the newlyweds who were seated on a pink and white wedding dais.
