JOHOR BARU: The Johor Baru traffic court has fixed 14 days between August and December this year for the trial of Sam Ka Ting, the 22-year old sale assistant charged with reckless driving which killed eight teen cyclists on Feb 18.

The 14 days will see the prosecution call a total of 39 witnesses.

State Public Prosecutor's Office director Roslan Mat Nor said the dates Aug 28-30, Sept 4-7, Nov 28-30 and Dec 4-7 were picked as most of the proceedings involving child witnesses will be carried out during school holidays.

The case came up for mention in court today in front of magistrate Siti Hajar Ali

On March 28, Sam pleaded not guilty to the offence.

She was charged with reckless driving, killing eight youths on modified bicycles along Jalan Lingkaran Dalam near the Mahmoodiah Muslim cemetery about 3.20am on Feb 18.

Sam appeared in court today wearing a face mask. She was represented by lawyer Faizal Mokhtar.
