BANDAR SERI JEMPOL: A 47-year-old man, succumbed to injuries he sustained after being thrashed by seven men who accused him of alleged motorcycle theft.
Jempol district police chief superintendent Muhd Nur Hishamuddin Hashim said the man died at Hospital Tuanku Ampuan Najihah at 3.25pm on Tuesday after as his head and body was badly hurt in the incident which played out at the Kiara Business Centre here.
He said that the motorcycle owner discovered that the bike that was parked in front of a snooker centre on Saturday had gone missing.
The man in question had subsequently lodged a report at the Bahau Police Station.
“The owner had viewed a CCTV( Closed Circuit Television System) recording at the snooker centre and saw a man whom he recognised, stealing the motorcycle. Then on Monday at around 8pm two of his friends spotted the motorcycle with its plate and registration changed on the road in Bahau and gave chase until Rompin.”
“They managed to stop him and beat him using a helmet. He was then brought to the Kiara Business Centre where he was beaten up by the motorbike owner until he was unconscious,” added Muhd Nur Hishamuddin.
The victim was then brought to the Bahau Police Station by two men who admitted to beating him up for the alleged theft.
Muhd Nur Hishamuddin said the men who were in their 20s and were now under remand to facilitate investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for Murder.
