KOTA KINABALU: A soldier pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court here today to a charge of raping his own daughter in April this year.

The 38-year-old accused entered his plea before Sessions Court judge Noor Hafizah Mohd Salim.

The man, who had served the army for 20 years, was charged under Section 376 (3) of Penal Code.

He was accused of having raped his 13-year-old daughter at a house in Kinarut at 9am on April 7.

Deputy public prosecutor Dinesh Raja appeared for the prosecution while counsel Datuk Seri Rakbir Singh represented the accused.

Rakbir, during the bail application, said the victim is under the custody of Sabah Welfare Department.

Noor Hafizah fixed RM10,000 as bail and ordered the accused to report himself to the Kinarut district police station every Friday. The judge also forbade the accused to communicate with victim and her guardian.

The court set July 23 for case management and October 23 and 24 for trial.

Meanwhile, in the same court, a general worker pleaded not guilty to raping a 15-year-old woman in May.

Niko Jo Julius, 20, was charged under Section 376(1) of Penal Code for raping the victim at a house in Inanam near here about 10pm on May 9.

Dinesh prosecuted while the accused was represented by Farazwin Haxdy.

Noor Hafizah fixed bail at RM5,000 and ordered the man to report to the Penampang police station on Friday for the second and fourth week of the month.

Case management has been set on July 23 and trial on Oct 25 and 26.
