KOTA KINABALU: A man who allegedly slashed an Australian citizen last month, was arrested at a house in Kampung Saga, Likas yesterday afternoon.
Tuaran police chief Deputy Superintendent Dzulbaharin Ismail said the 36-year-old man was detained at 1pm following a tip-off from the public.
"The suspect tried to flee but he was cornered by police in an unnumbered house,” he said in a statement.
He said during preliminary investigations, the suspect admitted he had hacked the victim following a misunderstanding.
The suspect will be remanded to facilitate investigations under Section 323 of the Penal Code.
In the Jan 24 incident, an Australian man was seriously injured after he was attacked by a parang-wielding man at Kampung Kiwoi, Tamparuli. — BERNAMA
