KUALA LUMPUR: Pos Malaysia Berhad (Pos Malaysia) today revealed the latest in its train-themed stamp series featuring the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT).
This collection will be available to the public from July 17 (Monday) in conjunction with the opening of Phase Two of the MRT Sungai Buloh - Kajang Line.
There will be four stamp designs; the MRT train and MRT feeder bus (60 sen), the elevated station (80 sen) and an MRT train with passengers (90 sen).
Pos Malaysia head of stamp and philately unit Diyana Lean Abdullah said there will only 304,000 pieces of the 60 sen stamps and 132,000 pieces each for the 80 sen and 90 sen stamps.
There will also be a Miniature Sheet which was designed to show the perspective view of an MRT train on the railway. A total of 35,000 pieces were printed with each priced at RM5.30.
Other philatelic products including the First Day Covers (FDC) will be available for 55 sen each while a special folder is priced at RM5.30 each. A complete folder set of the stamp series is priced at RM69.85.
There are only 45,000 pieces of FDC and 3,300 pieces of the folder.
"We encourage members of the public, be it stamp collectors or not, to grab these stamps as they are limited.
"Guests who are invited to the Phase Two SBK Line opening can look at these products up close on Monday as there will be a booth at the event," Liyana said at a press conference today.
In the past, Pos Malaysia had produced several other titles featuring Malaysian trains and railways including the 100 Years of Malayan Railway (1985) and the Malaysian Public Transport - Trains in Sabah (2015) series.
