KUALA LUMPUR: More medical officers and support groups will be placed at 1Malaysia Clinics nationwide, said the Health Ministry.

Deputy Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Hilmi Yahaya, during the question and answer session at the Dewan Rakyat today, said the ministry will execute this in stages, having already placed a number of Pharmacy Officer Assistants permanently in 102 1Malaysia Clinics up until Sept 30.

“The ministry is always looking to improve the services at 1Malaysia Clinics due to their very good response in the community.

“In 2015, a total of 6,092,332 individuals received treatment at these clinics and the number has risen to 6,472,001 last year," he said.

Up until August, Hilmi added, 4,445,828 patients have been treated at 1Malaysia Clinics nationwide.

Hilmi was responding to a question posed by Wong Ling Biu (DAP-Sarikei), who asked why 1Malaysia Clinics were lacking qualified doctors.
