KUALA LUMPUR: Puteri Umno has proposed for the setting up of a ceiling price for fuel, in a bid to cushion the impact of rising cost of living.
Padang Besar delegate Azimah Mahmud said a ceiling price will ensure that it will not fluctuate too much due to escalating global oil prices.
“If the government sets a ceiling price for fuel, then it will not be greatly affected by the changing global oil prices.
“This will benefit the people as it will ease their (financial) burden,” she said when debating the Puteri Umno chief’s policy speech.
Putatan Puteri Umno division head Daliah Mohd Zain meanwhile urged the government to have more digital-based education programmes in the field of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
Daliah said that there is an increasing need for children to take up TVET as it focused more on skills that could make youths more marketable.
“Currently, the country has only met 28 per cent of the demand for TVET-skilled employees, which is far below the targeted 60 per cent of TVET-skilled employees needed.
“TVET can produce highly skilled workers which is what we need under the National Transformation 2050 (TN50) plan.” she said.
Meanwhile, Melaka Puteri Umno delegate Khaidhirah Abu Zahar urged Puteri Umno members not to be gullible of the lies being spread via social media.
"Yes, it is true that social media has the power to disseminate information; However, good or bad, we must always think and ask ourselves if the information we received is true or otherwise."
“As Puteri Umno members, we must know how to separate fact from fiction and help explain issue to the people so they will know the truth.” she said.
