KUALA LUMPUR: The person behind the viral video, which allegedly showed an elderly man touching a woman’s thigh while riding a train on the Sri Petaling LRT line here, could be in deep trouble.
A fellow passenger who identified himself as Ramesh De Ram has vowed to search for the person who uploaded the video unless the person make amends.
"I want you to step up, do a video, seek forgiveness from the ‘pakcik’ (uncle), I only want that.
“If not I will keep on looking for you until you ask forgiveness from that pakcik, seriously. What you did is not right,” said Ramesh.
Ramesh said he was also in the train and that incident happened right in front of him.
He questioned whether the person had nothing better to do than to get other people into trouble.
He said the person should have minded his own business.
Ramesh said that person could have spoke out during the incident as it was happening there and then.
Ramesh - a private with the Malaysian Armed Forces according to his Facebook profile - also warned others not to share the video.
He said those who want to find fault with the pakcik could deal with him instead.
“If you really want to 'kecam' (criticise) the pakcik, you face me first. I dare you to 'kecam' the pakcik and I'll see how it goes,” he said.
Ramesh was speaking in a live Facebook session with celebrity ustaz, Ebit Lew, on Sunday.
Ebit had previously commented about the incident on his Facebook page and expressed indignance at the elderly man being wrongly accused.
During the Facebook live session, the two demonstrated how people could easily misinterpret the elderly man as touching the woman when there could have been no contact at all.
He also vouched for the elderly man again, reiterating that the latter was a very pious and good family man.
Ebit also cautioned that those who slandered the elderly man by uploading the video should delete it or they might face divine retribution.
“Do good and good things happen, do bad and bad things happen,” he said.
The Facebook live session had garnered more than 4,100 comments, shared more than 8,600 times with 224,000 views to date.
Netizens largely lauded the duo for standing up on behalf of the elderly man.
The 53-second clip allegedly shows the elderly man moving his right hand towards the female passenger, who was seated next to him.
The man appeared to glance down towards the woman’s left leg intermittently.
The woman, who appeared to be asleep, did not move and seemed to be unaware of the man’s actions.
