KUALA LUMPUR: One person was killed and 10 injured when the express bus they were travelling in collided with a trailer lorry at Km 409.4 of the North-South Expressway (Plus) – southbound – near Kuala Kubu Baharu, early today.
The deceased was identified as the bus driver, who died at the scene. His full identity has not been ascertained, Bernama reported.
The express bus, which was carrying 30 passengers, was en route from Kedah to Shah Alam, Selangor, when the accident occurred at 4.43am.
It is learnt that the vehicle rear-ended the latex-laden trailer lorry, which was moving at low speed in the left lane.
The driver of the lorry was unhurt.
The body of the bus driver was pinned to his seat, and had to be extricated by rescue personnel.
Of the 10 injured passengers, one was seriously injured. All were sent to the Sungai Buloh Hospital for treatment.
“The driver of the tanker was detained after it was found that he is wanted for a criminal breach of trust offence under Section 406 of the Penal Code.
“We are investigating the accident under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” Hulu Selangor district police chief Superintendent Lim Bak Phai said in a statement today.
