KOTA TINGGI: Residents here whose homes were damaged by a massive explosion and fire at Petronas’s Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (Rapid) complex in Pengerang here, this morning, have been advised to contact the Tanjung Surat State Legislative Assembly (DUN) office.

Special coordinating officer to Tanjung Surat assemblyman, Syed Abdullah Syed Abdul Mutalib, said information from anyone affected by the explosion and fire is required before action can be taken.

"So far, we have been informed that several houses have incurred minor damage. However, we are still gathering information and identifying residents in the affected areas.

"We will arrange for a visit (to the area) once we have the information and discuss with Petronas how to address the problems faced by affected residents," he said when contacted.

Earlier, Syed Abdullah uploaded a statement to Facebook urging residents to contact him at 018-904 4008 if their homes had been damaged by the incident and to file a police report.
