KUALA LUMPUR: An aide to Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department P. Waytha Moorthy today lodged a police report over a Facebook account set up in the minister’s name which was allegedly being used to post racist remarks.

The account holder, using Waytha Moorthy’s profile picture and full name of Waytha Moorthy Ponnusamy, had posted racist comments against the Malays, Umno and Pas.

Waytha Moorthy said his office had found out about the account around noon today and lodged a police report in Presint 7, Putrajaya.

The account, he said, was taken down after that but it was up again at 8pm.

“The account was created using my name and (the same) picture that I use on my official Facebook page.

“So, when the person leaves a racist comment, people would think it was me,” he said.

Waytha Moorthy said he would write to Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Abdul Hamid Bador tomorrow about the matter.

In April, 2016, Vida Beauty Sdn Bhd founder Datuk Seri Dr Hasmiza Othman, popularly known as Datuk Vida, faced the same problem when an individual opened a Facebook account impersonating her.
