MELAKA: A working paper on the ‘Rahmatan Lil Alamin’ (Mercy to all creations) idea, which will become a new policy of the Islamic administration in the country, will be tabled in the Cabinet meeting soon.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Mujahid Yusof said the proposal paper was now in the final stage.
‘’The journey to carry the ‘Rahmatan Lil Alamin’ concept based on the ‘Maqasid Syariah’ (Goals or objectives of Syariah) is no mere empty talk but it is set to be turned into an official policy of the Islamic administration in the country soon,’’ he said.
He was speaking to reporters after tabling a working paper titled ‘The Idea of Rahmah (Divine Mercy) in the New Malaysia’ in the 2019 Nadwah Ulama Nahdhan Jadidan (Gathering of Religious Scholars In New Awakening) Convention (2019 Nunji) at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC), Ayer Keroh, here today.
Mujahid, prior to this, was reported to have explained that the ‘Rahmatan Lil Alamin’ idea was a major approach which was brought by the government towards creating a nation of divine mercy.
The working paper had also been approved via a meeting of the Islamic National Council for Islamic Religious Affairs Malaysia on March 14 which was chaired by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Commenting on the 2019 Nunji, Mujahid said that the gathering which was founded four years ago was a platform aimed at reinvigorating the thinking of Muslims so as not to be too rigid.
Nunji, he said, did away narrow thinking to true Islamic thinking in a relevant context with the understanding of ‘Nas’ (Quran verses) which was based more on reality without obstructing or being opposed to religious principles.
‘’Nunji’s role is as an input in moulding today’s society by using the Islamic narrative under the ‘Rahmatan Lil Alamin’ and ‘Maqasid Syariah’ concepts brought by the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government,’’ he said.
The one-day convention also presented renowned figures to explain to the people on the ‘Maqasid Syariah’ concept which should no longer only be discussed in university lecture rooms.
“Maqasid Syariah must be popularised so that the public understand that doing something for national development, doing something for national well-being and also national peace are also the rules of religion brought by Islam,’’ he said.
Mujahid also hoped that the 1,300 participants would become the grassroots or ambassadors to spread and take the ideas to the masses.
The convention themed ‘’Filling Victory, Upholding Islam’ was organised to discuss the ‘Rahmatan Lil Alamin’ and ‘Maqasid Syariah’ concepts.
