IPOH: Heavy rain since Friday night caused a major landslide in Simpang Pulai which directly affected or threatened a number of homes in the districts of Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Hulu Perak, and forced the evacuation of their residents.
Up to 194 people were moved to relief centres as of this morning.
“As of 7.30am today, 92 people from 23 families are taking shelter at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Changkat Jong, Teluk Intan.
“A total of 81 people from 27 families are currently at Sungai Klah Baru Community Hall in Sungkai.
“And 21 people are being housed at Kampung Malau Community Hall in Lenggong,” a spokesperson from the Civil Defence Force said when contacted today.
Meanwhile, another major landslide occurred along Jalan Simpang Pulai-Cameron Highlands here at about 12.30am, forcing the closure of the northbound lane.
