PUTRAJAYA: The pump price for RON97 will cost two sen less, from RM2.66 per litre to RM2.64 per litre, for the period of Dec 7 to Dec 13, the Finance Ministry announces.
However, the retail price for RON95 petrol would remain unchanged at RM2.08 per litre and for diesel at RM2.18 per litre, it added.
“Without subsidy, the retail prices for RON95 calculated under the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM) should be RM2.34 per litre and diesel at RM2.30 per litre,” said the ministry in a statement.
It added that the government had decided to cap the retail prices for RON95 at RM2.08 and diesel at RM2.18 in a move to stabilise the retail prices of petroleum products and reduce the cost of living.
Under this system, weekly fuel prices are announced every Friday and remain in force for a week.
The ministry said the subsidy to be forked out by the government from tomorrow to Dec 13 was estimated to be RM107.4million – RM90.78 million for RON95, and RM16.62 million for diesel.
