KUALA LUMPUR: The Youth and Sports Ministry officer who was arrested for allegedly taking drugs at a private party will be suspended pending police investigation, minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said.
In a statement today, Syed Saddiq said he would leave the case to the police.
“I was informed of the arrest of several officers, including one from the Youth and Sports Ministry, by police early this morning.
“The involved officer will be suspended pending investigation. Every Malaysian is subject to the country's law regardless of rank and status,” he said.
News on the arrest of Dengkil assemblyman Adhif Syan Abdullah and four political special officers after being tested positive for drugs has gone viral on social media.
It was reported that Adhif had denied the arrest and was expected to release a statement on the matter.
The Inspector-General of Police is expected to make a statement today.
