KUALA LUMPUR: Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Razak has described the party's general assembly today as an extraordinary affair, as the party is marching towards the 14th general election (GE14).

Najib said that the attendance of 30,000 party supporters and observers at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) shows that the party still commands the support of the Malay community.

With their overwhelming approval, Najib said he is confident that Umno will not only continue ruling the country for the next 30 years, but for another 1,000 years.

In his policy speech before the party's 5,628 delegates here, Najib made it clear that Umno must win big in GE14, which he described as the “mother of all general elections.”

Najib, who is also the Prime Minister, opened his speech by paying tribute to party members both at PWTC and nationwide, for their loyalty to Umno and his leadership.
