KUCHING: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s latest criticism of Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang is nothing but an incoherent act by a senior politician seeking attention.
Without mincing his words, Sarawak Pas Commissioner Jofri Jaraiee described the “infidel” remarks made by Pakatan Harapan chairman against Hadi as a form of delirium (meracau) by a senior politician.
“Dr Mahathir is just ‘meracau’ (delirious). It is wrong for him to accuse Hadi of being an infidel, just because Pas has a different stance and operate differently from Pakatan Harapan.
“Of late, Dr Mahathir is prone to making statements blatantly based on his emotions, without taking into consideration the facts or making any attempts to check.
“He has also been inconsistent in his stand throughout his political career. Previously, when he was with the government, he would repeatedly picked and criticised DAP.
“And now, since switching political camp, he has gone the extra mile to defend DAP,” Jofri told the New Straits Times.
Jofri said he believed Dr Mahathir would change his stand again if the latter has a change of heart and feels like switching political affiliation.
“I do not want to elaborate much on this. The more we entertain him, the more he becomes what he is now.
“Perhaps, it is best for him to just focus on increasing his ibadah (religious obligation),” he said.
Dr Mahathir today labelled Hadi a “kafir” (infidel) and traitor to the Muslims for supposedly working with Umno.
He justified his remarks, saying Hadi had previously called those working with Umno as infidels.
