DEVELOPERS have been conceptualising with all kinds of strategies to make their residential project stand out from the rest and this is no different for BRDB Developments Sdn Bhd.

The company is now banking on art and local talents to build a township that is enriching to its residents and visitors.

BRDB recently launched the “Art of Living” project for its Tamansari development in Rawang that will feature free-monumental standing sculptures, experimental projects and many other artworks scattered within the township’s landscaped tropical gardens.

For the project’s first phase, four local artists — Ramlan Abdullah, Umibaizurah Mahir Ismail, Haffendi Anuar and Jun Ong — will bring their respective perspective on art and culture to Tamansari.

BRDB chief executive officer Kajendra Pathmanathan said the sculptures will interweave with the Rawang culture and heritage, and eventually give identity to the pieces of art for dwellers and revellers of Rawang and more specifically, Tamansari.

“They will identify with this project and this is how BRDB is looking at achieving excellence and triumph. We believe Tamansari will be the choice residential in Rawang,” he said at a media luncheon, here, recently.

Kajendra also said that through the pieces of art that will be focal point for onlookers, it will generate a sense of belonging for the Tamansari community.

“Art has the ability to evoke emotion and colour in our lives. You can look at a piece of sculpture and you can share that experience with your family, friends or neighbours or you can appreciate that art in isolation by yourself. You look at the same piece of art three days later and you can be overcome with a sense of melancholy. A week later you look at the same piece of art and it uplifts your spirit. This is what art does,” he said.

Kajendra said the four artists’ scupltures are expected to be ready by June or July this year.

Tamansari, with a gross development value of RM2 billion, will be developed in 16 phases in the next 10 to 15 years, he said.

Kajendra said Amaryllis — the first phase of the township comprising garden homes — is fully sold, while Camelia — the next phase with super terraced garden homes — is progressing well.
