Rawang residents throw rubbish in flower pots

JUST a few days after flower pots were placed in Bukit Sentosa, Rawang, Selangor, people started throwing rubbish in them.

The pots are planted with fern trees but the attitude of some residents and traders has irked Ali.

“They do it on purpose, even though the Hulu Selangor District Council has placed bins in the township.

“I pity the council as it has done a lot to beautify the business area.”

Another thing that irked Ali was the attitude of motorists who ignored one-way streets and no-entry signs.

“They enter the roads as if the no-entry signs are invisible.”

He said there had been near collisions but the drivers just shrugged it off.

He said traffic policemen could be stationed nearby.

ACTIONLINE

MDHS president Noraini Roslan said there was a need to educate people about keeping places clean.

“People must not litter. We wouldn’t need to have enforcement if everyone is civic conscious.

“It seems discipline can be instilled into people only when there are enforcement officers, but things return to normal when they are not there.”

The complaint has been directed to the Department of Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing for investigation and action.
