RESIDENTS of a Felda settlement in Chini, as well as in Pekan and other districts in Pahang, have complained of low water pressure and water cuts recently.
They said it was unbearable during Hari Raya Aidilfitri, when water was needed the most.
One resident, who wanted to be identified only as Ahmad, said he and his family found it difficult to prepare Hari Raya delicacies due to the low water pressure.
“We are disappointed with the authorities as this was the time we needed water the most,” he told Actionline.

Pengurusan Air Pahang Bhd (PAIP) chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Zahari Md Isa said the surge in demand during Hari Raya Aidilfitri was the primary cause behind the low water pressure and water cuts.
He said this was due to the influx of people who “balik kampung”.
“For example, one house may have five occupants, but during Hari Raya, this number may increase to 20.”
He said the other problems faced by consumers were caused by ruptured pipes in some areas in the state.
Zahari said PAIP had taken preemptive measures by providing 184 water tanks and 30 water tankers to supply clean water to areas with water disruption problems.
“PAIP also repaired damaged pipes and installed temporary booster pumps underground to boost water pressure to solve water shortage problems.”
Zahari said the number of complaints received during Hari Raya this year over water shortage was lower compared with the same period last year.
“We prepared 184 water tanks in Pahang, but since the problem was not pressing, not all were deployed.”
