THE walls and pillars of Tanjung Lumpur Bridge, which crosses Sungai Kuantan, have been defaced with graffiti.
A fisherman, Kadir Abu Bakar, 47, expressed concern about the vandalism, which had turned the surroundings into an eyesore.
“I have been catching fish here for the past three years and the vandalism has worsened since then.
“Besides vandalism, the scenery of Sungai Kuantan is tarnished with garbage floating in the river.
“It is unfortunate that some fishermen have also thrown rubbish into the river,” he said.

A Kuantan Municipal Council (MPK) spokesman said it has forwarded Kadir’s complaint to the Public Works Department.
“We will send people to check under the bridge, and they will take action to fix the problem.”
