RESIDENTS in Section 11, Petaling Jaya, have raised concerns about stalled renovations at a house in Jalan 11/10.
Construction was stopped more than three weeks ago.
A resident, Tam Yeng Siang, 71, feared that stagnant water in a pit behind the house would become a breeding ground for Aedes mosquitoes.
Tam also said debris and dust might affect the health of
residents.
“Water is found in a pit behind the house. It looks like the unit’s septic tank.
“I am worried about the health of my family and that of my neighbours,” said the retiree.
Tam hoped the authorities would inspect the house and take action if there was negligence on the part of the owner.

According to the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ), its officers would inspect the house before taking action against the house owner.
An MBPJ spokesman said a warning notice would be issued to the owner if he did not put up signage notifiying of the renovation and approval by the authorities.
“If the owner fails to produce documents to prove that the renovation had approval from the authorities, he may be charged and fined under the Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974 (Act 133).
“If the premises is found to be infested with Aedes larvae, the owner may face action under the Destruction of Disease-Bearing Insects Act 1975.
“He may be fined not more than RM500 fine for each spot where the Aedes larvae is found.”
