Damaged drain to be repaired

KUALA LUMPUR: A damaged drain in Jalan Athinahappan 2, Taman Tun Dr Ismail, will be repaired soon.

The Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Corporation (SWCorp) said in a statement that the collapsed drain
accumulated rubbish and prevented water from flowing smoothly.

“SWCorp has explained the matter to the City Hall and prompt action would be taken to repair the collapsed structure.

“Once repaired, water will flow smoothly and contractors would be able to clean the drain effectively.”

SWCorp was responding to an Actionline report published on Jan 4, in which residents voiced concern about their safety due to the collapsed drain.

They said the issue cropped up when structure started falling apart in November.

SWCorp said concessionaires kept to their schedule in cleaning the drain.

“However, we will continue to monitor the situation to ensure that Alam Flora Sdn Bhd’s concessionaire carry out cleaning work effectively.”

A City Hall spokesman said a team would be sent to repair the collapsed structure.
