A FEW abandoned vehicles pose a health risk to residents in Anjung Tawas Sinaran, Anjung Tawas Damai, Taman Tawas Mutiara, Taman Tawas Idaman and Tasek Square Residential in Ipoh, Perak.
The vehicles, at 1 Tawas Business Centre, are not a nuisance to residents, but they could become breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
Syakir Mohamad, 39, said the business centre was deserted since a
number of workshops had closed down.
“Only two or three workshops are open, but there are about 20 abandoned vehicles there.”

Ipoh City councillor Aldrich Low said the council could not tow the abandoned vehicles as it must act in accordance with the law.
“The council has issued three notices to the owners of the workshops for obstruction in public places under Section 46(1)(d) of the Street, Drainage and Building Act and each will have to pay a RM250 fine.
“We will not hesitate to take stern action against them, including taking these cases the court if they fail to pay their fine.”
