“Some of them, especially after junctions, require motorists to turn into sharp corners. For those unfamiliar with the roads, it is a dangerous move.”
Earlier this month, senior citizen S.K. Lim, 71, also highlighted the roundabout near his workshop at Batu 9, Jalan Labuk in Sandakan as being dangerous for motorists.
“The roundabout has no warning signs. The road is narrow, with a sharp corner, and an uneven surface. There is also no proper drainage and when it rains, the water flows onto the road, causing many motorcyclists to slip,” claimedLim.

Sabah Public Works Department director Datuk Amrullah Kamal said the road design at the roundabout at Jalan Labuk in Sandakan posed no problem.
“There are warning signposts at the area telling motorists to slow down, but they probably speed up and lose control.
“The road surface could also possibly have been damaged by heavy vehicles,” he said.
Amrullah said the department would conduct a survey of the roads and erect more signposts to keep people alert as well as build speed bumps to slow the traffic flow.
