Central bank's international reserves climb up to US$96.1bil

KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Negara Malaysia's international reserves rose to US$96.1 billion (RM425.2 billion) as at April 28.

The reserves position is sufficient to finance 7.9 months of retained imports and is 1.1 times the short-term external debt, Bank Negara said in a statement.

The main components of the international reserves were foreign currency reserves (US$89.5 billion), IMF reserves position (US$0.8 billion), Special Drawing Rights (US$1.1 billion), gold (US$1.6 billion) as well as other reserve assets (US$3.1 billion).
