KL to host first ever Italian eyewear show in Asia

KUALA LUMPUR: The Italian Trade Agency (ITA) will hold its first Italian eyewear exhibition in Asia here over two days from Thursday.

The event, to be held at the Grand Hyatt for trade participants, is supported by Malaysia Optical Wholesaler Association and Malaysia Association of Practising Opticians.

ITA, which was set up to promote trade and business ties between Italy and foreign markets, is working with the Italian Optical Goods Manufacturers Association to bring in 20 Italian distributors for the event.

The exhibition is expecting more than 50 buyers from Malaysia and other parts of Asia.

ITA said Italy contributes 15 per cent to Malaysia’s total eyewear import, making it the third largest exporter of eyewear to the country.

The event will see the largest number of buyers, distributors, and retailers gathering under one roof to be inspired by Italian design and craftsmanship.

The made-in-Italy eyewear range will showcase some of the latest designs and styles in 2017, including a wide selection of stylish high-end lenses, glasses and frames as well as customised hand-made eyewear and other accessories.
