SC releases updated list of Shariah-compliant securities

KUALA LUMPUR: The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) today released an updated list of Shariah-compliant securities approved by its Shariah Advisory Council (SAC).

The updated list, which takes effect on May 26, 2017, features 676 Shariah-compliant securities, which constitute 75 per cent of the total 901 listed securities on Bursa Malaysia.

The list includes 23 newly-classified Shariah-compliant securities and excludes 13 from the previous list issued in Nov 2016.

SC said the newly classified Shariah-compliant securities include Aemulus Holdings Bhd, Amtel Holdings Bhd, Ann Joo Resources Bhd, Can-One Bhd, Eversafe Rubber Bhd, Hibiscus Petroleum Bhd, MUI Properties Bhd, Perdana Petroleum Bhd, Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd, Sunway Construction Group Bhd, Vsolar Group Bhd and Yinson Holdings Bhd.

The newly-classified Shariah non-compliant securities, meanwhile, include APB Resources Bhd, GD Express Carrier Bhd, Gloden Land Bhd, Kim Teck Cheong Consolidated Bhd, Lion Diversified Holdings Bhd, NETX Holdings Bhd, PA Resources Bhd, Prolexus Bhd and YFG Bhd.

Aside from these, the SC said that the new list of Islamic real estate investment trusts (REITs) includes Al-‘Aqar Healthcare REIT, Al-Salam REIT, Axis-REIT, KLCCP Stapled Securities, Damansara REIT Managers Sdn Bhd, Damansara REIT Managers Sdn Bhd, Axis REIT Managers Bhd and KLCC REIT Management Sdn Bhd.

The list of Islamic exchange-traded funds (ETFs) includes MyETF Dow Jones Islamic Market Malaysia Titans 25, MyETF MSCI Malaysia Islamic Dividend, MyETF MSCI SEA Islamic Dividend and MyETF Thomson Reuters Asia Pacific Ex-Japan Islamic Agribusiness – all managed by i-VCAP Management Sdn Bhd.

The full list, updated twice a year based on companies’ latest annual audited financial statements, is now available on the SC website at www.sc.com.my.

The SC said that the next updated list will be made available in Nov 2017, based on a review of audited financial statements released up to Sept 30, 2017.
