M'sian companies ink 4 MOUs over USD50mil at Astana Expo 2017

ASTANA: Malaysia has signed four memorandum of understanding (MOUs) worth over USD50 million this week at the Astana Expo 2017.

The MOUs were signed with three Expo participating countries, namely China, India and the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Malaysia-based Ronser Bio-Tech Bhd, an integrated wastewater treatment solutions specialist, had appointed Kazakhstan’s MEC LLP as the exclusive representative to distribute its wastewater treatment system in Central Asia including Kazakhstan.

The agreement between these companies were recorded at USD20 million.

Another Malaysian company, Feed the Seed Sdn Bhd also signed an agreement worth USD30 million with Kazakhstan-based Nusantara Associates LLP.

Feed the Seed is a manufacturer of biodegradable packaging made from rice husks and straws.

Meanwhile, iCYCLE Malaysia, a solutions provider of waste separation and recycling, had signed two MOUs with companies based in Guangzhou, China and Kerala, India.

The combined agreement is worth USD250,000.

The MOU signing was witnessed by the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Madius Tangau; Deputy Secretary-General of the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water Datuk Dr Tan Yew Chong; Ambassador of Malaysia to Republic of Kazakhstan Syed Mohamad Bakri Syed Abd Rahman; and Bioeconomy Corporation project director and senior Vice President (Bioindustrial) Zainal Azman Abu Kasim.
