RFP for Bandar Malaysia master developer role now open

KUALA LUMPUR: The government has opened the request for proposal (RFP) for the role Bandar Malaysia master developer, starting today.

This was announced by Finance Ministry secretary-general Tan Sri Irwan Serigar Abdullah at the RHB Regional Conference 2017 to discuss the One Belt One Road (OBOR) initiative undertaken by China this morning.

"We are waiting for people to come and pick up (the RFP); the criteria is Fortune 500 companies, and they must have experience as well as cumulative revenue over three years of RM50 billion.

"These are the criteria and we are waiting..... and we have people who have called in for details and they can pick up the RFP from my office," Irwan said.

Irwan is also the chairman of TRX City Sdn Bhd and Bandar Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

He said the master developer need not necessarily be a foreign company and that (the criteria) has opened up. The master developer, he said, can work with local companies, with a local content criteria included.

At his keynote address at the conference, Irwan said banks have to change their mindsets and embrace technology and make the Malaysian banking sector more competitive.
