Bursa Malaysia, CIMB organise Invest Malaysia to draw in potential investors

KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia Bhd and CIMB Investment Bank are jointly organising Invest Malaysia Kuala Lumpur (IMKL17) with the theme, ‘Malaysia at 60: Maximising Potential’, where investors will see the diversity of the nation's capital markets.

The organisers said that this year’s event – to be held from July 25 to 26 – will again bring together foreign fund managers and captains of industry via dialogues on Malaysia’s strong economic fundamentals.

The event will also offer insights into Malaysia’s digital economy and the plans by Malaysia’s pension and investment funds to increase returns to shareholders.

“Invest Malaysia Kuala Lumpur 2017 couldn’t have come at a better time. The economy remains resilient in the face of external economic challenges.

“Our fundamentals are strong, the ringgit is stabilising and our economy is on track for a higher GDP growth this year. We have also seen the return of capital flow to the market,” said Bursa Malaysia chief executive officer Datuk Seri Tajuddin Atan in a press statement today.

Meanwhile, CIMB Group’s group chief executive Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Aziz highlighted that IMKL17 will also underline the country’s strong legal and investment framework as well as investor-friendly policies and incentives.

“Malaysia is also the gateway to access the growing ASEAN market with its combined GDP of US$2.4 trillion. Many of the companies showcased at IMKL 2017 have businesses both within and beyond Malaysia, which is a testament to its importance as a regional hub, particularly for Southeast Asia,” Zafrul said in the same statement.

The conference will be officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, where Najib will also launch Bursa Malaysia’s latest initiative to serve small- and medium-sized enterprises in raising funds from the capital market in a more efficient manner.
