MPay solutions for PICKnGO

MANAGEPAY Systems Bhd (MPay) has come on board to provide end-to-end electronic payment solutions for the recently launched taxi app, PICKnGO.

MPay group managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Chew Chee Seng said the company would provide a payment terminal system to be equipped to all PICKnGO taxi drivers.

Customers can just swipe their debit or credit cards here and key in their pin numbers to make payments.

“PICKnGO will provide seamless and cashless transactions for both customers and drivers.

“Besides that, we will also provide a debit card to the drivers, which is going to be linked straight to their bank accounts. This is also in line with our effort to push for more cashless transactions,” he said recently.

He said the payment terminal and debit card would be made available to all PICKnGO taxi drivers before its launch on August 7.

Meanwhile, the app, which was launched on June 28, has garnered the interest from at least 400 taxi drivers to date, and has received strong interest from the industry, said PICKnGO director Valerie Chan.

“We have received and trained hundreds of them to date. We are targeting to secure as many as we can by year-end.

“To date the five major taxi companies in the Klang Valley have come forward to take up this new app,” she said.

She said the taxi companies were New Supercab Sdn Bhd, Uptownace (M) Sdn Bhd, Damai Kota Cab Sdn Bhd, Syarikat Pemandu dan Pemilik Teksi Bhd and Perniagaan Lima Sejati Sdn Bhd.

While the app was not in the market to compete with the other e-hailing or ride-sharing services, it had an ambitious target to revolutionise taxi services in the Klang Valley by offering fast, safe and convenient travel, added Valerie.

She said the app could connect users with about 10,000 taxi drivers who were fully licensed and insured across the greater Kuala Lumpur.

One of the key benefits of PICKnGO is that it has the advantage of consistent, metered rates.

“We do not have surge pricing. The app even allows the users to pick a lower fare at a push of a button,” she said.
