KL-SG HSR to generate RM70b in investments by 2060

KUALA LUMPUR: The Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High Speed Rail, once operational, has the potential to generate RM70 billion in investments along the HSR alighment by 2060.

The rail project will be able to create approximately 440,000 jobs, developing new skills and talent that will generate sustanaible opportunities for future generations.

In Melaka, the KL-SG HSR has received overwhelming support from the state of Melaka with 95 per cent respondents having provided positive feedback on the project via the Public Inspection exercise that began on Novermber 1, 2017.

MyHSR Copr said Melaka will have 57-kilometre of HSR alignment out of the total estimated alignment length of 328 kilometres in Malaysia with a station located close to Ayer Keroh toll in the Durian Tunggal district.

“The KL-SG HSR station is expected to reduce travel time between the Bandar Malaysia HSR station in Kuala Lumpur and the Melaka HSR station to 45 minutes compared to 1.5 hours by car currrently.

“The Melaka community will also be able to travel comfortably , coveniently and safely on the HSR to other cities such as Kuala Lumpur, Bangi and Putrajaya, Seremban, Muar, Batu Pahat, iskandar Puteri and Singapore.

“A total of seven permanent and temporary Public Inspection booths have been located in Melaka thoroughout the inspection period, which will end on January 31, 2018.

“We are encouraged by the strong support received from stakeholders and communities along the HSR alignment as we have studied HSR implementations globally and have recognised the positive economic impact brought about by the improved connectivity,” said MyHSR Corp chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Nur Ismal Mohammed Kamal.

The Melaka community is able to view the information about the KL-SG HSR projects, the planned alignment, locations of the seven Malaysian stations , typical station features and layout, land acquisition plans, railway technical data and the Socio-economic Development Programme (SEDP) at Public Inspection Booths.
