AirAsia announces five key senior leadership changes

SEPANG: AirAsia Group Bhd (AirAsia) has announced a management team shakeup today with five key appointments involving Aireen Omar, Captain Adrian Jenkins, Rozman Omar, Bo Lingam and Riad Asmat.

Highlight of the appointments was the passing of baton from Aireen to Riad as the new AirAsia Bhd chief executive officer effective January 10 next year.

Riad was director of corporate planning, strategy and business development of Naza Corporation Holdings Sdn Bhd.

He will be joining a team of other CEOs which include Tassapon Bijleveld, CEO of AirAsia Thailand, Dendy Kurniawan, AirAsia Indonesia CEO, Captain Dexter Comendador, Philippines AirAsia CEO, Amar Abrol, AirAsia India CEO and Osamu Hata, AirAsia Japan CEO- all of whom will report directly to Bo Lingam.

Refuting allegations that Aireen would be leaving the airline, AirAsia group CEO Tan Sri Tony Fernandes said Aireen was promoted to deputy group CEO in charge of digital, transformation and corporate services.

This signals AirAsia group's transformation from an aviation company to a digital corporation.

Captain Adrian Jenkins will assume the role of AirAsia chief operating Officer, reporting to Bo Lingam, deputy group CEO of AirAsia, while Rozman will be the new executive director of AirAsia International Limited (AAIL), holding company of all AirAsia group investments in overseas joint ventures.

The appointments were announced by Fernandes at the airline's RedQ headquarters, here, today.
