KUALA LUMPUR: Honda SENSING, Honda's next-generation advanced safety suite of technology makes the new Accord a segment leader.
With the introduction of the new Accord, Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd marks the second model in its product line equipped with Honda SENSING, after the all-new CRV that was launched in July last year.
Honda SENSING uses both monocular camera and millimetre wave radar to enable a complete view of the road and as an added safety measure. It works by warning and aiding the driver to avoid or mitigate the severity of a collision.
Honda has consistently pushed the boundaries with their D-segment sedan, the Accord.
When the ninth generation Accord was launched in 2013, it set a new benchmark by offering premium and advanced features such as the LaneWatch camera.
The 2016 Accord built on this and further raised the bar with value-added features and standard safety features in all variants.
This latest generation Accord though, has set the benchmark not only for the Accord brand, but the D-segment car market in Malaysia.
Honda Malaysia offers two variants of the Accord; the Accord 2.0 VTi-L at a price of RM149,350 without insurance and Accord 2.4 VTi-L Advance with Honda SENSING at a marginally increased price of RM169,800, excluding insurance.
The upgraded Accord 2.4 VTi-L Advance with Honda SENSING carries premium features that include stylish LED headlights, LED taillights, seven-inch advanced display unit with i-MID and Honda LaneWatch.
As with the CRV, the new Honda SENSING technology suite revolutionizes the driving experience in the new Accord.
Honda SENSING comprises these key systems:
LANE DEPARTURE WARNING (LDW)
Detect the lane boundaries and notify the driver when their vehicle leaves the lane without using the signal lights.
ROAD DEPARTURE MITIGATION
The car will apply the brakes automatically and assist with steering the moment the camera detects the Accord veering too close to the edge of the road.
LANE KEEPING ASSIST SYSTEM (LKAS)
Helps to gently correct the steering to keep the vehicle between lane lines.
FORWARD COLLISION WARNING
Detects the presence of vehicles in front of the driver, and triggers visual and audible alerts if the system detects a risk of collision. If no action is taken by the driver, Collision Mitigation Breaking System (CMBS) will be triggered.
COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM
Helps to reduce the likelihood and severity of a frontal impact. It will assist in applying brake force progressively if the vehicle does not start to slow down when at risk of a collision.
ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
Sets a fixed cruising speed and distance behind a vehicle to maintain a safe driving distance.
