BIMB appoints Ambrin Buang as new chairman

KUALA LUMPUR: BIMB Holdings Bhd has appointed former auditor-general Tan Sri Ambrin Buang as its new independent and non-executive chairman, with effect on Friday 2nd February 2018.

Ambrin, 69, replaces Tan Sri Samsudin Osman, 71, who is retiring from the position on 31st January.

Ambrin was Malaysia's auditor general from 2006 until Feb 22, 2017, when he was succeeded by former secretary-general of the education ministry, Tan Sri Dr Madinah Mohamad.

He had also served as state secretary of the Selangor state government and the secretary-general of the education ministry until his appointment as auditor-general.

He is currently also the independent non-executive chairman of Lingkaran Trans Kota Holdings Bhd (LITRAK).

Ambrin holds a degree in economics from the University of Malaya and a master in international business from University Of South Carolina, USA.
