BToto registers RM59m in net profit, revenue up to RM1.4b in Q3

KUALA LUMPUR: Berjaya Sports Toto Bhd’s (BToto) net profit increased 23.6 per cent to RM59.23 million in the third quarter ended January 31, 2018 from RM47.94 million, due to improved results registered by its subsidiaries, Sports Toto Malaysia Sdn Bhd and H.R. Owen Plc.

Revenue increased 2.7 per cent to RM1.4 billion from RM1.37 billion.

For the nine months, BToto’s net profit increased 15.7 per cent to RM195.28 million from RM168.83 million, while revenue increased 0.1 per cent to RM4.259 billion from RM4.257 billion.

In line with the favourable financial performance, BToto has declared a third interim dividend of four sen per share in respect of the financial year ending April 30, 2018 and payable on May 3, 2018.

The third interim dividend distribution will amount to RM53.9 million with total dividend distribution to date amounting to approximately RM161.7 million, representing 82.8 per cent of the attributable profit of the Group for the financial period ended January 31, 2018.

Moving forward, BToto expects number forecasting operators (NFO) business undertaken by Sports Toto would be challenging for the remaining quarter of the current financial year, with the continued rampant illegal gaming activities and weak consumer sentiments.

However, the Group is confident that it will continue to maintain its market share in the NFO business for the remaining quarter of the financial year ending April 30, 2018.
