KUALA LUMPUR: Bumiputera contractors are assured of well-spread work packages for the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore high-speed rail (HSR) project.
Malaysian Resources Corp Bhd–Gamuda Bhd consortium director Datuk Azmi Mat Nor said eligible Bumiputera contractors would still need to compete for the jobs.
“The well-spread work packages will benefit all classes of contractors, from G1 to G7,” he said at a briefing, here, yesterday.
The Project Delivery Partner is in the early stages of design and front-end activity planning.
On the HSR project, Azmi said the services industry was among sectors that would experience greater demand.
“Digital upskilling will increase people’s marketability and employability.
“Local contractors will also build on their expertise as they work on this monumental rail link that is set to strengthen Malaysia’s position as a leading economic powerhouse,” he added.
