Barakah Offshore gets extension for Sabah Sarawak gas pipeline contract

KUALA LUMPUR: Barakah Offshore Petroleum Bhd announced that Petronas Gas Bhd has extended the contract awarded to PBJV Group Sdn Bhd for the provision of repair and maintenance of the Sabah Sarawak gas pipeline until Nov 30, 2018.

PBJV is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Barakah Offshore.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia today, Barakah Offshore said that PBJV was awarded the contract on Dec 8, 2015 for a duration of two years beginning Dec 1, 2015 until Nov 30, 2017, with a one-year extension option.

“The value of the contract will depend on the number of work programmes to be carried out for the duration of the contract based on unit rates specified in the contract.

“For 2018 year-to-date, PBJV has received total work programmes for the contract to the value of about RM133 million, which will be executed within this year,” it said.

The 512-kilometre Sabah Sarawak gas pipeline is a network of onshore pipeline that links the Sabah Oil and Gas Terminal in Kimanis, Sabah and Petronas LNG Complex in Bintulu, Sarawak.

“The scope of the contract includes inspection, testing, repair and maintenance of the pipes and related infrastructure to maintain the pipeline integrity,” Barakah Offshore said.
