Hyatt House Mont'Kiara Kuala Lumpur general manager Bennett Peter said the Mont Kiara branch will be operational in the third quarter of this year.

The Melaka branch of the brand is currently under construction and expected to be completed within the next two years.

"We are also actively exploring avenues to open our hotels in locations around Kuala Lumpur and Selangor as well as other cities outside Klang Valley such as Penang, Ipoh and Langkawi," he told a media briefing on Hyatt House Kuala Lumpur Mont Kiara here, recently.

Hyatt House Kuala Lumpur Mont Kiara is an extended stay hotel (ESH) located within Arcoris Mont Kiara's development area.

Hyatt House is one of Hyatt Hotels's four-star hotel brands and offers the same quality as its other brand but at lower prices.

Benett said the hotel brand focuses on ESH segment with specially designed hotel rooms equipped with living room, kitchen and bedroom to cater extended staying customers.

He said ESH is a new segment in the hotel industry whereby the trend is number one in China, well-received in the United States and increasingly growing in Asia.

"This is the first time the Hyatt House brand is exploring the market in Kuala Lumpur, the first Hyatt House in Southeast Asia and the world's largest," he said.

Benett expressed confidence of the market potential in the country and described the venture into Malaysia market to be timely to reinforce and introduce the brand among local and foreign tourists.

"We are optimistic about the market in Malaysia and believe it is a good move based on the strategic position of the country being the crossroads of Asia, having attractive tourist locations, fluent English speaking people and a strong well-developed economy," he said.
