SAP urges local companies to transform into 'intelligent enterprises'

KUALA LUMPUR: Technology solutions provider SAP Malaysia Sdn Bhd (SMSB) today urged local companies to transform into 'intelligent enterprises' so as to realise greater productivity and operational efficiencies, making them 'leaner and meaner' with deeper insights for better decision-making.

SMSB managing director Duncan Williamson said intelligent enterprises effectively use their data assets to achieve their desired outcomes faster, and with less risk.

"The intelligent enterprise leverages emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, internet-of-things (IOT) and analytics to enable the workforce to focus on higher value outcomes," Duncan told NST Business.

"As a result, the new way of work is all about being seamless whereby employees are able to access various systems from any device,” he added.

"What’s more, the systems should be able to help employees make better decisions while providing valuable insights in ‘real time’."

He explained that machine learning technologies are critical to empowering intelligent enterprises.

“By embedding algorithms directly into multiple systems, companies can then continuously learn and adapt to new data as it comes in.”

Duncan also said SAP intelligent suite of solutions enable customers to automate their day-to-day business processes so that customers can better interact both internally and externally.

“This scenario is achieved through applications that have intelligence embedded in them, and powered by a digital platform to facilitate the collection, connection, and orchestration of data,” he said.

For example, in the area of network and spend management, the various systems could automatically integrate with SAP Concur, so that businesses can better manage company spend.

SAP Concur is a cloud-based solution which improves automation, integration and analytics across travel and expense processes.

"End-to-end, automated data synchronisation between SAP Concur and other business applications provides management with more visibility into employee spend.

"This way, management can more effortlessly and accurately manage expenses to get a complete view of company spend in one place,” said Duncan.

SAP today serves more than 378,000 customers across over 180 countries, including 91 percent of Forbes Global 2000 companies.
