TNB's Mukim Tanjung 12 LSS contributes 73.2 MW of RE to national grid

KUALA LUMPUR: Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) is now contributing 73.2 MW of renewable energy (RE) to the national grid in line with the government's target of generating 20 per cent of RE resources by 2030.

In a statement today, TNB said its large scale solar project (LSS) in Mukim Tanjung 12, Sepang, Selangor has begun contributing renewable energy (RE) nationally, as of 23 November.

The Mukim Tanjung 12 LSS boast 23,000 solar panels across ​​98 hectares of land, is currently the country's largest LSS.

The Mukim Tanjung 12 LSS is one of the main projects under the 11th Malaysia Plan, which TNB won in a competitive bid.

The projects which boast a price tag of over RM300 million was developed by TNB's wholly owned subsidiary, TNB Sepang Solar Sdn. Bhd (TSSSB).

LSS has begun contributing as much as 2.4 MW as of last October, which incidentally was its initial generation start date of operation (IOD).

TNB is targeting to generate RE capacity of 1,700 MW by 2025.
