Short-term rates to remain steady on BNM's operations

KUALA LUMPUR: Short-term rates are expected to remain steady today on Bank Negara Malaysia’s (BNM) operations to absorb surplus liquidity from the financial system.

Today’s liquidity is estimated at RM25.48 billion in the conventional system and RM20.85 billion in Islamic funds.

The central bank will issue three conventional money market tenders comprising RM2 billion each for seven days, 14 days and 21 days, as well as three Qard tenders worth RM2.5 billion for seven days, RM2 billion for 14 days and RM1.5 billion for 21 days.

It will also carry out two reverse repo tenders worth RM320 million for 14 days and RM500 million for 33 days.

At 4 pm, BNM will conduct an up to RM20.3 billion conventional overnight tender and a RM14.9 billion Murabahah overnight tender.
