Short-term rates to remain steady on BNM's operations

KUALA LUMPUR: Short-term rates are expected to remain steady today on Bank Negara Malaysia’s (BNM) operations to absorb surplus liquidity from the financial system.

Today's liquidity is estimated at RM23.96 billion in the conventional system and RM19.83 billion in Islamic funds.

The central bank will issue two conventional money market tenders of RM2 billion for seven days and RM1 billion for 14 days, as well as, a RM500 million Commodity Murabahah Programme for 32 days.

It will also issue a RM3.2 billion Islamic range maturity auction Qard tender for seven days to 19 days and a RM500 million Bank Negara Interbank Bills for 30 days.

At 4 pm, BNM will conduct an up to RM21 billion conventional overnight tender and RM15.7 billion Murabahah overnight tender.
