Razer launches its official HQ in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Razer, a lifestyle brand for gamers, is upbeat on developing Malaysia as a hub for the financial technology (fintech) leadership with the launch of its official new headquarters in the country.

Razer co-founder and chief executive officer Min-Liang Tan said the company would continue investing in Malaysia as its hub for fintech efforts in South East Asia.

“It is the first country in the world to be ready for Razere Pay and we see the Razer Malaysia office as a natural springboard for our fintech efforts in the region,” he said at the official launching ceremony of Razer Headquarters at UOA Corporate Tower in Bangsar South today.

He added that the new investment for the headquarters marked the rising significance of Malaysia to Razer’s ecosystem growth which houses over 280 employees.

The event was graced by Minister of Finance Lim Guan Eng and Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.

Min-Liang said Razer would also explore opportunities with UOA to digitise and integrate its carpark systems into the Razer Pay app, enabling users to settle their parking fees using the app without waiting in queues.

Merchants operating in Bangsar South will also start accepting Razer Pay, as they will begin offering rewards programmes enabled by Razer Pay such as coupons and flash sales to help customers save time and money.

Min-Liang said the new headquarters will also serve as the company’s commitment to develop Malaysia’s e-sports industry, citing that Razer will be the official e-sports partner for the upcoming 2019 SEA Games.

He said Razer will work with the government and industry partners to develop the next generation of tech-talent in the country , while collaborating with institutes of higher learning to provide training and mentorship programmes and offer exchange programmes across the regional Razer’s offices.
