Boustead Plantations announces CEO retirement, Azlan Jaafar to be acting CEO

KUALA LUMPUR: Boustead Plantations Bhd says its chief executive officer (CEO) Chow Kok Choy will retire on July 31.

In a statement today, Boustead Plantations said in the interim, deputy CEO Mohamad Azlan Jaafar will be acting CEO.

Chairman Tan Sri Mohd Ghazali Che Mat said Chow’s extensive expertise had been invaluable during his long-standing tenure with the group with a career spanning more than four decades in the plantation sector.

“He has played an instrumental role in the growth of the group and we wish him all the best in his journey ahead,” Ghazali added.

Chow, 71, joined the group in 1971 as estate manager for several estates.

In 1993, he became planting advisor of Boustead Estates Agency Sdn Bhd (BEA).

He was later appointed as BEA planting director in 2001 and subsequently plantation operations director of BEA in 2008.

He has held the position of managing director of BEA since 2014.

He also served as chief operating officer of Boustead Plantations from 2014 until his appointment as CEO last year.

“The board has embarked on an immediate selection process to seek out the best candidate to replace Chow, with the right capabilities and mindset to drive the group forward,” Ghazali said.

“In the interim, Mohamad Azlan, who has 20 years of experience in the corporate arena and has been with the group for seven years, is well-qualified to take on the role of acting CEO with the support of the board and the experienced senior management team of the group,” he added.
