Perodua cuts Aruz's delivery time to earliest one-month

Kuala Lumpur: Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sendirian Bhd (Perodua) has reduced the delivery period of the Aruz from 2 and 2.5 months to 1 and 1.5 months respectively depending on models.

Perodua president and chief executive officer Datuk Zainal Abidin Ahmad said the company was able to further improve on its production processes resulting in better delivery of its sport utility vehicle (SUV).

“We continue to focus on quality and delivery as our customers comes first. We thank you for your continued and strong support which has led to the Aruz being the most popular SUV in Malaysia – this is truly an important milestone for us,” he said in a statement today.

Perodua also estimated its January to July sales achievement to reach 140,900 for all models, which is on par with 140,900 units sold in same period last year.

Meanwhile, Perodua sold 17,989 units of its SUVs for the period between January and July this year.

“In terms of comparison, the months of June, July and August last year saw a “tax holiday” resulting from the elimination of the goods and services tax (GST) by the government.”

“Notwithstanding the circumstance, we are fortunate that our performance so far is comparable to the “tax holiday” impact”,” he added.

He said Perodua has maintained its sales target of 235,000 units by year-end, an increase of 3.4 per cent from 227,234 units sold in 2018.

The increase in sales target was inline with strong demand for all its current models.

Perodua’s total production target for 2019 has also been revised to 249,000 units, an increase of 2.9 per cent from the previous target of 242,000 units.

Both of its manufacturing plants are currently operating at 97 per cent capacity with an optimum level of operating condition.
